Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System located in Spartanburg, SC is seeking to hire FULL TIME BC/BE Fellowship trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our team.  The Anesthesiologists provide care at Spartanburg Medical Center – Church Street (SMC) and Mary Black (MBH) campus as well as Cherokee Medical Center (CMC) in Gaffney, SC (SMC, MBH, CMC).  From Level 1 trauma centers to community hospitals, we treat a variety of complex cases.  Once fully staffed the cardiac team will consists of 6 Cardiac Anesthesiologists. 

• SMC – Church Street campus – Level 1 Trauma Center
  • 20 State of the art OR’s, 3 Cardiac ORs, 3 EP labs equipped for anesthesia, 3 OB ORs, 6 Endo suites
  • Cardiac volume: 500 Open Hearts per year, mixture of complex and basic hearts
    • Growing structural heart program that includes Watchman procedures, Mitral Clippings and TAVRs
    • Busy EP Lab

• General case mix includes: General, Plastics, OB, Gyn, Urology, Ortho, Vascular, ENT, Trauma, GI, Neuro, Thoracic, Regional Anesthesia and Peds (primarily healthy peds dental, ENT, ophtho and Ortho, with occasional NICU cases).  Off-sites include MRI and IR

• Call is shared equally between members of the cardiac team

• Cardiac Anesthesiologists only take Cardiac Call, which is blended in-house and home call for night and weekend coverage

• 17,500 cases annually
• Primarily Medical Direction up to 1:4, with future potential to sit some cases on call

• SMC – Mary Black campus
  • 9 ORs
  • 5000+ cases annually

• Medical Direction up to 1:4
• Case mix: General, Plastics, Ortho, Ophtho, ENT, Urology, Neuro (no craniotomies), Regional Anesthesia, minimal healthy Peds
• CMC - Cherokee Medical Center, Gaffney, SC
• 5 ORs, 1 MD per day
• Case mix: General, Gyn, Ortho, GI, Ophtho, Regional Anesthesia, occasional TEEs, healthy Peds
• No evening or weekend cases
• Medical Direction up to 1:4 with rare opportunities to sit cases
