Teaching opportunity for Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residents
The vascular medicine physician focuses on diagnosis and treatment of circulatory problems within the blood vessels, notably the arteries, veins, and lymphatic system. Common diseases include peripheral artery disease, lymphedema, and carotid artery stenosis.
MercyOne Vascular and Wound Center has an established referral base and draws from a 15-county network of about 260,000 across northern Iowa and southern Minnesota. The Vascular and Wound Center houses the hospital's two Hyperbaric Chambers and all other wound care equipment and staff in one centralized space, including ultrasound capability in the department. The Wound Center is an outpatient program that focuses on chronic and non-healing wounds. Using advanced treatment modalities and a case management model, we help patients improve the quality of their lives. In partnership with physicians, certified wound nurses, and multiple medicine disciplines, we provide invaluable care for patients.
