Position Summary: The Echocardiographer (cardiac sonographer) is responsible for obtaining high quality recordings of ultrasound images of the heart and related structures for the cardiologist who will interpret the examination. This is a technical position requiring a highly skilled operator with knowledge of the various types of ultrasound procedures. Work situations require clinical interpretive knowledge, independent judgment, initiative, and ingenuity in performing procedures. External contacts include patients, family members, and physicians. Internal contacts are basically within the work group.
Minimum Requirements: Previous experience as an Echocardiographer preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Registered or upcoming completion of accredited academic program in Echocardiography according to American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Current registration through ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or completion of registration within 1 year of starting employment. Separate credentialing requirements apply for adult and pediatric applications of cardiac ultrasound. Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR
