- 185,000 electrocardiogram (EKG) studies and procedures
- 54,000 echocardiography and transesophageal studies and procedures
- 5,600 nuclear cardiology diagnostic testing studies and procedures
- 5,300 vascular ultrasound and diagnostic vascular studies and procedures
- 1,500 cardiac MRI studies and procedures
- 850 cardiac CT studies and procedures
Areas of responsibility for the senior director of cardiovascular imaging include EKG, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography services in the inpatient and ambulatory settings, nuclear cardiology diagnostic testing, cardiovascular MRI, vascular ultrasound and diagnostic studies, and structural heart-related imaging services at multiple locations across the organization, including UAB Hospital, UAB Hospital-Highlands, and various ambulatory clinics. Job Description
To lead and administer the functions of the cardiovascular imaging service line. To develop and maintain productive, professional relationships with the providers and health system leadership. To collaborate with the medical director to enhance quality, efficiency and profitability of the service line. To ensure efficient and orderly operation of the clinical and business services including, but not limited to, provision of imaging services and associated operations, financial administration, personnel administration, operational planning and budgeting.
Job Requirements
Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Currently certified with Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Plus, one of the following criteria preferred:
- Currently credentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- OR currently credentialed as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- OR Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
- OR If currently certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), must maintain licensure with the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN)
- OR If currently certified as a Radiologic Technologist (RT), must maintain registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
