Chief of Anesthesiology sought. The Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible physician for a position in the Anesthesiology Section, Surgical Service. This position functions as the Chief, Anesthesiologist who maintains professional, administrative, clinical and programmatic leadership for the service line to ensure achievement of the clinical goals and applicable performance measures 24/7. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be March 5, 2021. Eligible applications received after that date will be continuously referred until position is filled. NOTE: The announcement will remain open until no longer needed but no later than September 30, 2021. The Chief Anesthesiologist is accountable for the assessment of the health care delivery system, as well as developing a plan for the delivery of health services to patients, consistent with the policies and guidelines of the Veterans' Health Administration. Faculty appointment at the University of Louisville is strongly desired. The Chief of Anesthesiology reports directly to the Chief of Surgery and is responsible for the clinical and administrative functions of the department. Duties include but not limited to: Provide leadership and management for Anesthesiology Service Line. Assists staff in identifying and solving patient care problems relating to anesthesia services on a day-to-day basis. Work cooperatively and supportively with the members of the medical staff to provide Anesthesiology services for patients. Participate in required UM/QM activities relating to the Anesthesiology Department. Develops, implements, and maintains anesthesia procedures and practices. Responsible for participation and oversight of staff physicians, Anesthesiology contractors, CRNAs, Anesthesia interns, residents/fellows, medical school students, and medical technicians patient care performance measures, compliance, training, and performance improvement, recruitment and retention of highly qualified and experienced providers, participation in various Medical Center committees to ensure performance measures are met, compliance with applicable rules and regulations, as well as participation in system redesign activities. Collaborate and communicate with other medical professionals to determine care plans and provide high-quality patient care throughout the department. The Chief of Anesthesiology will serve as a liaison between the medical school training programs. Work collaboratively with affiliate partner(s) to ensure high quality programs and develop research and education programs. Collaborating with providers in other medical and surgical services including appropriate referrals. Performing appropriate evaluations of patients. Participating in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care. Utilizing electronic medical records to accurately document treatment in a timely manner. Ensuring that the practice of medicine is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, and VA policies and procedures. Serving on hospital committees and peer review programs as needed. Teaches and supervises residents from the University of Louisville Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.
